Philosophical Fight Log: Day 23-Weigh-ins
So weigh-ins were today.
Finally.
The last 24-hours of the water-cutting was admittedly pretty intense; particularly the last 12. I had to make a catch-weight of 160 lbs, but I actually came in at 158 lbs. As I think about it, the last time I weighed 158 lbs was when I was in bootcamp at West Point when I was 17! Even after shivering away 20 or so pounds at Ranger School, when I was 22, or doing an amateur bodybuilding competition when I was 27, both of those times I ended up stepping off the scale at 163 lbs. So seeing the scale read 158 this morning was pretty surreal (especially considering I started this MMA training journey at 206lbs!).
Anyway, the weigh-in and medical stuff went well. The opponent face-off went well.
And the re-hydration and refeed has been going well. Here’s a pic (below) of what I began re-hydrating/re-feeding with (Pedialyte/ Gatorade/Coconut Water/Chocolate Milk/ Banana (for potassium), Chips (for sodium) and some light Cliff bars to graze on)
I’m already back up to 166 lbs and should be around 170/171 lbs by the time I step in the cage tomorrow night. Should be fun.
Anyway, that’s all I got for now. Just gonna relax and chill for the next 12 hours and not think about fighting at all until tomorrow.
Have an excellent night.
